Rock of Ages: Movie in Review

Release: 2012 Rating: PG-13 Run Time: 123 minutes

Another movie that the trailers seem to not set you up correctly. At the core this musical is a romantic comedy that focuses on one couple for the story with a few side romances. For whatever reason you want to sing along with the actors which to me is a sign of a good musical. In fact musicals are kind of a dirty secret of mine but not all of them. Repo the Genetic Opera, Rocky Horror and musical episodes of TV series are my thing and some how Rock of Ages has joined that club house.

Beautiful Daughters: Documentary in Review

Release: 2006 Rating: NR (Suggested PG-13) Run Time: 46 minutes

This is quick documentary that tosses you into the middle of itself and starts the ride from there. It is a well cut documentary that leaves you craving a bit more as you can feel all the material left on the cutting room floor because of the small window of time they had to meet. If your interested in learning more about the transgender experience or even if your not you need to watch this.

Brave: Movie in Review

Release: 2012 Rating: PG Run Time: 100 minutes

Once again Pixar/Disney delivers a great movie falling into the recent but some what needed 'self rescuing princess' genre. Brave was not as action filled as I was expected but this is quickly made up by the humor delivered in the film. The voice acting is wonderful along with a great story that carries a message though a little heavy about it (not the first time Pixar has done this, we are looking at you Wall-E.) but easily forgivable. Honestly though, the best part of this movie is the refreshing lack of a romantic interest for the lead character; thank you! Short version, great for kids and will keep adults laughing too but not because of subtle adult humor.
